Best Lawyers Names Nathan Goldberg Los Angeles Best Labor and Employment Lawyer of the Year for 2010
Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession, has named Nathan Goldberg as the “Los Angeles Best Lawyers Labor and Employment Lawyer of the Year” for 2010.
After more than a quarter of a century in publication, Best Lawyers is designating “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”
Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 16th edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2010), is based on more than 2.8 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.
The lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings in our surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.
Steven Naifeh, Managing Editor of Best Lawyers, says, “We continue to believe – as we have believed for more than 25 years – that recognition by one’s peers is the most meaningful form of praise in the legal profession. We would like to congratulate Nathan Goldberg on being selected as the ‘Los Angeles Best Lawyers Labor and Employment Lawyer of the Year’ for 2010.”
Congratulationas to Michael Maroko, Delores Leal and Tomas Olmos who were also named as Best Lawyers in America for 2010.

Daily Journal Names, Nathan Goldberg One of California's Top 10 Plaintiff's Employment Lawyers
July 15, 2009

Year in Review: Nathan Goldberg settled a class action against Circuit City in Los Angeles County Superior Court for $15 million. About 200 people who were laid off by the company said they were let go because they were older workers at the top of the pay scale. Circuit City filed for bankruptcy at the beginning of the year, so Goldberg is still working out revisions to the settlement.
Next Challenge: Goldberg is preparing for a trial in August on behalf of a black woman who says she was subjected to inappropriate, discriminatory comments at her security services job. She reported that her coworkers compared her to a monkey and brought a monkey doll into work. After she complained to management, she was fired.
Most People Don't Know: Goldberg was born in Germany and is the son of Holocaust survivors. He says he's grateful for everything he has because his family came to the United States with nothing.
$15 Million Victory in Circuit City Age Discrimination Suit
December 12, 2008 - The Los Angeles Superior Court approved a settlement of 15 million dollars in our class action age discrimination lawsuit against Circuit City on behalf of 217 former California employees. In March of 2007 Circuit City terminated thousands of workers nationwide because they earned 51 cents or more above the established pay rate, they were then told they could reapply for jobs earning far less. We contended this action discriminated against older employees who tended to be the higher wage earners, a violation of California law.

¡Sí se Puede! $1.68 Million for Women Farm Workers
December 9, 2008 - Today Gloria Allred, her partner Tomas Olmos, and United Farm Workers President Arturo Rodriguez announced an historic victory in a gender discrimination lawsuit against a California table-grape grower that for years refused to hire women. The women allege that they went in a group to apply to pick grapes, but were told that the business did not want women and that all women are lazy. Although the grower filled approximately 300 positions each year between 1998 and 2002, no women were hired in that time period.
